Colloquy Collective presents theatrical works in contexts that both examine and redefine those works' relationship to the identity politics, historical baggage, and community representations of patrons and participants.

Purpose

Colloquy Collective is a theatrical space for artists to expand their professional repertoire while recognizing the unique experiences created by their identity, history, and community. Through that, Colloquy Collective will expose the audience – particularly the audience of color—to the theatrical canon in contexts that acknowledges the identities, histories, and communities of that audience.

Simply, its purpose is threefold:

  • to create, present, and discuss performance-based works for a broad community;
  • to make both the creation and presentation of performance-based work more inclusive of all identities, cultures, and experiences; and,
  • to expose the public to performance-based work from a variety of traditions, cultures, and contexts.
